History-making season continues as Mustangs win GPAC Tournament title 4-1 SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NEB. – A historic season for Morningside Men’s Tennis checked another box today as the Mustangs won their first-ever Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament title, sidestepping Midland, 4-1, to claim the conference’s automatic berth to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Men’s Tennis National Championships.

Morningside men advance to GPAC Championship with win over Doane SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NEB. – Darkening skies over the Sioux City metro area proved no threat to the men’s Great Plains Athletic Conference tennis tournament, which had been moved to the First Serve Tennis Center. Doane put up a fight in its semifinal match with Morningside, taking the first team point from Mustangs in conference play this season, but the host team prevailed, winning the match 4-1 to advance to tomorrow’s championship.

Mustangs sweep way to GPAC title over Midland SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NEB. – Morningside’s men’s tennis team had the advantage as Midland came to town, holding the top spot in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings, but with sole possession of the team title on the line, the pressure was on. The Mustangs rose to the occasion, completing the conference circuit with a 7-0 victory, shutting out every GPAC opponent on the season to win their first team title.

Mustang men hand Doane first GPAC loss
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Men’s tennis picked up a vital win to separate itself from the pack as it handed Doane its first Great Plains Athletic Conference loss of the season, 7-0.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside knew it was going to have a tough opponent across the net when Division II Augustana came up next on the schedule, but coach Alex Struck’s teams haven’t backed down from potential challengers yet. This was the case yesterday as the Mustangs butted heads with the Vikings, falling in a highly competitive 4-3 match.
ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Morningside pushed its current win streak to five as the Mustangs kept another opponent scoreless, defeating Northwestern 7-0.
HASTINGS, NEB. – Morningside’s men’s tennis team had an easy break as it faced a shorthanded Hastings squad, needing to win as few as one doubles match and one singles match to secure a win. The Mustangs stayed focused, however, and left Hastings with a 7-0 win in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.
