SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside knew it was going to have a tough opponent across the net when Division II Augustana came up next on the schedule, but coach Alex Struck's teams haven't backed down from potential challengers yet. This was the case yesterday as the Mustangs butted heads with the Vikings, falling in a highly competitive 4-3 match.

Morningside was able to avoid a sweep in doubles, as Winyou Asavaruangchai and Joao Pedro Pierry Izoldi Costa picked up a 6-3 win. Augustana would take the doubles point, giving it a cushion in the singles matches.

Skander Ben Abdallah was the first Mustang to claim a singles victory, winning 6-1, 6-3, before Gustav Sjoberg followed with a 6-4, 6-0 win.

Costa also had a knock-down, drag out victory at no. 6 singles, splitting his sets 6-3 and 0-6 before winning the super tiebreaker 6-1.

The Mustangs are back in action tomorrow, playing Doane in Great Plains Athletic Conference action at 11 a.m.
