Mandatory Day Off Policy

The Morningside University Athletic Department, in accordance with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) adheres to a mandatory day off policy once per week during the academic year.

The day off policy restricts mandated team activity one day per week. Communication between student-athletes and coaches is permitted if initiated by the student-athlete.

Exceptions to this policy:

  • Conference or post season championships
  • Postponements or other unforeseen circumstances
  • A travel day may be considered a “Day Off” if none of the following occur:
    • Discussions or review of game film, individual, team or position group meetings take place on the bus.

Student-Athletes that feel this policy is being violated should contact either the Assistant Athletic Director or the Athletic Director.
