
Mustangs blank Bulldogs in conference opener
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NEB. – The Mustangs picked up their second consecutive 7-0 win, opening their Great Plains Athletic Conference season on a high note as they defeated the Concordia Bulldogs.
Morningside was able to keep Concordia off the board, sweeping doubles to take the doubles point. Winyou Asavaruangchai and Abhischek Mohapatra were first to check in with a 6-1 win. Mark Trenkle and Gustav Sjoberg followed with a 6-1 win and Santiago Minetti and Skander Ben Abdallah wrapped the doubles session with a matching 6-1 win.
Trenkle was first off the court in singles, winning 6-4, 6-2. Minetti followed 6-4, 6-3 and Ben Abdallah fought for an extended win to seal the match, 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker and 6-4.
Sjoberg added a 6-0, 6-1 win, Eduard Cardelus won 6-2, 6-2, and Mikhil Raja won 6-3, 6-4.
The Mustangs' next outing comes on March 30, when they travel to Buena Vista University.
