Trenkle earns Player of the Week honor

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Morningside men's tennis has another GPAC Player of the Week winner as Mark Trenkle received the honor for his performance last week.

Trenkle, a junior from Lahr, Germany, went 4-0 last week playing No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. 

Against Mount Marty, Trenkle and his teammate Gustav Sjoberg picked up a 6-4 win in doubles and Trenkle earned a 6-0, 6-0 win in singles. Saturday against Luther, Trenkle and Sjoberg won the doubles point on a 7-6 win with a 7-4 tiebreaker. Trenkle then earned a 6-2, 6-2 singles win. 

The Mustangs now gear up for the GPAC Tournament this weekend. The Mustangs will play in the semifinals against an opponent to be determined at approximately 1 p.m. Friday at First Serve Tennis Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
