
Mustangs are dominant in penultimate GPAC matchup

Morningside was thorough as it ran the table in its penultimate league match, making quick work of singles play as Winyou Asavaruangchai and Abhisek Mohapatra checked in with a 6-2 win. Mark Trenkle and Gustav Sjoberg followed, clinching the doubles point with a 6-4 win, and Santiago Minetti and Skander Ben Abdallah added an exclamation point with a 7-5 victory.
In singles play, Trenkle made quick work of the no. 1 match, winning 6-0, 6-0. Sjoberg followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win, and Ben Abdallah sealed the match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Minetti added a 7-5, 6-2 win to push Morningside closer to the shutout. Joao Pedro Pierry Izoldi Costa collected a 6-3, 6-2 win at no. 6 singles, and Mikhil Raja had a 7-6 nailbiter with a 15-13 tiebreaker followed by an easier 6-2 victory to complete the sweep.
The Mustangs host Luther on Saturday at 4 p.m. before the regular season finale against Midland on Monday, April 22.
