SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Men’s tennis picked up a vital win to separate itself from the pack as it handed Doane its first Great Plains Athletic Conference loss of the season, 7-0.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Men's tennis picked up a vital win to separate itself from the pack as it handed Doane its first Great Plains Athletic Conference loss of the season, 7-0.
Eduard Cardelus and Winyou Asavaruangchai were first in the book for Morningside, collecting a 6-3 win at no. 3 singles. Mark Trenkle and Gustav Sjoberg followed with a matching 6-3 victory, and Santiago Minetti and Skander Ben Abdallah concluded the doubles sweep with a 7-6 victory with an 8-6 tiebreaker.
In singles, Ben Abdallah was first in the book, winning a quick 6-0, 6-1 no. 3 match. Minetti was next with a 6-1, 6-2 victory, and Sjoberg secured the team win with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
The Mustangs went on to run the table, as Trenkle dropped his opening set 3-6, before winning 6-4, and 6-2. Joao Pedro Pierry Izoldi Costa picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Mikhil Raja won 6-4, 6-3.
