The Morningside University women’s basketball team was voted Wednesday fourth in the preseason Great Plains Athletic Conference coaches’ poll. The Mustangs earned 71 points among the coaches in the conference.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Ryan Cavanaugh was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, following a second-place finish at Morningside’s Mustang Derby, in which he led the Mustangs to the team title.
The Mustangs, which went 24-10 last season overall and 14-6 in league play, received 73 points among the coaches in the conference.
The Mustangs are ranked seventh going into this week’s game against Briar Cliff, but moved up from ninth after they defeated Hastings 52-7.
Zack Chevalier was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week, while Laken Harnly was voted Special Teams Player of the Week.
