Mustangs' upset bid falls short against no. 1 Dordt

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – For three quarters, the Mustangs had the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics no. 1 team in women's basketball up against the ropes, leading Dordt's Defenders through 30 minutes of play. Dordt looked more like an undefeated team in the final frame, forcing overtime, where it opened up a 77-70 lead by the end of the period.

Jordyn Carr and Lily Vollertsen led Morningside in scoring in the contest, each tallying 16 points. Jaeden Webb followed with 13 and Alexis Spier had 11. Chaise Pfanstiel and Spier each had six assists as the Mustangs moved the ball around the floor.

Ella Wragge led the Mustangs on the boards with six rebounds. Sam Ehlers followed with five, and Spier, Vollertsen, and Webb each had four. Webb added three steals and Wragge had two to help keep the Defenders off balance.
