Morningside drops a pair at Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Mustangs had their doubleheader at Faulkner postponed to Wednesday due to weather, but the Eagles won both games on their home field.

The Eagles scored one in the first and four in the third to take game one 5-0. The Mustangs threatened in the third as Kennedy Wineland singled and Sidzyik doubled to put runners on second and third with two outs, but couldn't push a run across. Morningside put runners on in the fifth when Paige Schuster singled, followed by walks from Jalyn Noelle and Sidzyik to load the bases.

Morningside had four hits, highlighted by Sidzyik's double. She also walked twice to reach three times in four plate appearances. Morgan Secora pitched three innings, striking out three but taking the loss. Maggie Fisher pitched three shutout innings of relief, striking out two.

The Mustangs weren't able to push a run across in game two either, as Faulkner scored three in the first and four in the second to take a 7-0 win and the sweep.

Sidzyik was on the basepaths frequently in game two, recording a base hit and a walk to reach twice in three plate appearances in game two. Ellie Gengler had the other hit for Morningside. Jenna Skradski pitched the first two innings for the Mustangs, taking the loss. Bralen Biddlecome pitched four innings of relief, striking out three and not allowing a run.

Morningside has some time off before returning to the field on March 15 against Missouri Valley and Columbia in Columbia.
