
Men's Tennis' entire lineup takes highest honors on GPAC All-Conference list
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's entire men's tennis lineup earned the status of all-conference, the Great Plains Athletic Conference announced today, as all six members of Morningside's lineup for the GPAC season received the league's top distinction. Alex Struck was also named the conference's coach of the year in the release.
In singles, Mark Trenkle, a senior from Lahr, Germany, received all-conference honors in the no. 1 position. Trenkle went 17-5 in the no. 1 position this season, and 22-7 overall.
Marcos Menendez Hervella went 12-9 in the no. 2 position, where he received all-conference honors. Menendez Hervella, a freshman from Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain, was 16-11 on the season.
In the no. 3 position, Alexis Diaz received all-conference honors following an 18-3 regular season at no. 3. The junior from Bassens, France, was 22-5 during the season.
Santiago Minetti received all-conference honors in the no. 4 singles position. A sophomore from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Minetti was 15-4 at no. 4 and 16-7 overall during the regular season.
Freshman Mathys Arnold was 18-0 at the no. 5 position this season. Hailing from Charmey, Switzerland, Arnold went 26-2 during the regular season without regard to position.
Jesse Gerth was 15-3 on the season in the no. 6 position and 19-7 overall, earning the freshman from Zoetermeer, Netherlands, all-conference honors.
The all-conference duo of Trenkle and Minetti united for a 10-10 record at no. 1 doubles, going 4-2 in conference and 10-11 overall.
Diaz and Menendez Hervella were 16-6 at no. 2 and 17-8 overall during the regular season, earning the pair all-conference honors at the no. 2 position.
Arnold and Gerth went 18-2 in the no. 3 doubles position and 22-4 at all levels, earning them all-conference doubles honors in their freshman campaign.
Struck led Morningside in a 22-1 campaign, culminating in back-to-back GPAC regular season and postseason titles. For the second time in as many seasons, he was named GPAC coach of the year.
