
Mustangs get out brooms in 7-0 sweep of Doane
CRETE, NEB. – Men's Tennis picked up another crucial Great Plains Athletic Conference win in its penultimate league match today, defeating Doane 7-0.
As has been a hallmark for Morningside this season, the match got started on the right foot with the doubles point going to the visiting Mustangs. Jesse Gerth and Mathys Arnold won 6-0, Alexis Diaz and Marcos Menendez Hervella won 6-2, and Mark Trenkle and Santiago Minetti won 6-4.
Diaz kept the ball bouncing Morningside's way in singles play, winning 6-1, 6-1. Menendez Hervella won at no. 2 singles 6-2, 6-2 and Arnold clinched the win 6-1, 6-0.
Trenkle had to put in some extra work at no. 1, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; Minetti won 6-0, 6-0 in the no. 4 draw; and Gerth completed the sweep, 6-1, 6-0.
Morningside plays its final conference match on Wednesday against Mount Marty at 2 p.m. at the Mason Family Tennis Complex.
