
No. 22 Mustangs open spring break with win
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The 22nd-ranked Morningside men's tennis team defeated Spring Arbor on Monday morning, 6-1.
The Nos. 2 and 3 doubles teams earned wins. In the No. 2 doubles match, Marcos Menendez Hervella teamed up with Alexis Diaz to win six games to two. Then, in the No. 3 match, Mathys Arnold and Jesse Gerth won their match, 6-4.
In singles play, the Mustangs in matches 3-6 earned convincing wins. Starting with No. 3 singles, Diaz defeated Caleb Kaytar 6-4, 6-1. Santiago Minetti won his No. 4 singles match over MacKinley McNalley 6-4, 6-2.
In No. 5 singles, Arnold allowed just a set to Aaron Kur, winning 6-1, 6-0. Gerth had the same fortune in the No. 6 singles match over Sam Lyon, claiming it 6-1, 6-0.
Mark Trenkle won the second set of the No. 1 singles match, 6-4, after dropping the first set 6-3. Hervella won the opening set 6-4 of his match.
