BELLEVUE, Neb. — The Morningside baseball team scored two runs early Tuesday against RV Bellevue, but the Bruins edged RV Mustangs 5-2 at Brown Park.
Hayden Hixon hit a two-run home run during the fourth inning, clearing the wall in left field. Sam Wilt scored on Hixon's second homer of the season. Hixon had two hits, while Michael Delzell had a single.
Bellevue scored two runs in the first, then once in the second, fourth and eighth innings. Five Mustangs took the mound, as Kade Yasui got the start. Combined, Yasui, Mason Hymer, Josh Pratt, Sam Hanson, and Rhys Fairweather threw 119 pitches and found the strike zone 74 times. They struck out two and walked two.
The Mustangs held the Bruins 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
