
Mustangs tabbed third in GPAC preseason poll
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Morningside University baseball team on Thursday was voted third in the 2025 Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll with 79 points.
The Mustangs were the highest-voted team that did not receive a first-place vote, just placing behind Concordia and Doane in the rankings.
Third place is where the Mustangs finished in 2024, winning 19 league games and 33 overall. As a team, Morningside hit .293 and pitched a collective 4.43 earned run average.
Morningside opens the season Feb. 15 with games against William Woods and Graceland in Joplin, Missouri. The home opener is March 11 with a doubleheader against Mayville State at 1 p.m.
