Brancato's stellar week garners Player of the Week honor
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Hitting over .600 at the plate and not making an error in the field was enough for Eddie Brancato to win this week's GPAC baseball player of the week.
Brancato, a senior infielder from Arlington Heights, Illinois, hit .619 over six games last week, including three games where he was perfect at the plate. He totaled 13 hits, three extra base hits, 11 runs, and seven RBI. Brancato was also perfect in the field, recording six putouts and 13 assists in 19 total chances.
Brancato is hitting a career-best .427 (32-75) with 32 runs scored and 17 RBI this season. He leads the team in hits, batting average, and runs scored; and is tied for second on the team in RBI.
Morningside hits the field Tuesday for a single game with Bellevue. The Mustangs then gear up for a four-game weekend series at Mount Marty this weekend.
