Mustangs place two at Conner/Oppenheim Open

CRETE, Neb. – Two Mustangs placed at the Conner/Oppenheim Open Saturday in Crete, Neb.

At 155, Markael Zeleny wrestled for the first time this season and placed fifth. Her day started with a win by fall at 1:09, the first of her Morningside career. She followed that up by earning her second pin of the year and day in 2:09. After a quarterfinal loss, Zeleny earned an 11-0 tech fall win, and finished her day in fifth place.

At 130, Madeline Black's first match of the day lasted 38 seconds, which ties her fastest pin this season. After moving to the consolation, Black earned a win by fall (3:32), tech fall (19-8), fall (2:05) and injury default. Black finished sixth.

Adilene Delgadillo picked up two wins by fall and a 10-0 tech fall win. Delgadillo picked up her first win by fall in the opening round in 2:46. Her next win came in the second round of the consolation bracket, and was by 10-0 tech fall. Delgadillo followed that up with a fall in 1:04.

Alyssa Peterson earned her first tech fall of her Morningside career in the first round of the consolation bracket, 14-3. 

The Mustangs are back in action in Sioux Falls Sunday, taking on Sioux Falls and Augsburg.
