ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Despite winning a set against top-ranked Northwestern on Wednesday, the Morningside University women's volleyball team lost in four sets.
The Red Raiders won by set scores of 25-14, 19-25, 25-16, and 25-22.
During the second set, Morningside hit .182 and had 13 kills. The action was back-and-forth for most of the set, but the Mustangs discord five straight points to take a 16-14 lead. Claire Wilson earned two kills during that rally, while Barbora Kozousova had two service aces.
Payten Lode closed out the set with a kill, thanks to an assist from Aleksandra Dalach. Dalach, by the way, had a team-high 39 assists.
Lode led the Mustangs with 12 kills, followed by Sydney Marlow with 11, and Wilson with nine.
Lode also had the most digs for the Mustangs with 15, while Kyla Dyrstad had eight.
Nienke van Drunen, Dalach, and Adelyn Harris each had 2.0 total blocks.
