Dalach earns NAIA Setter of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time since the 2010 season, Morningside women's volleyball has an NAIA Player of the Week, as Aleksandra Dalach earned the honor for her performance in three matches last week.

Dalach is a freshman from Opacz-Kolonia, Poland. In nine sets played last week, Dalach recorded 130 assists and 14.44 assists per set. Dalach's command of the offense contributed to three sweeps, including three-set wins over Receiving Votes Dakota Wesleyan and Receiving Votes Valley City State.

"Aleksandra has been putting in a lot of work with staff and practice to up her game the last few weeks," head coach Jessica Squier said. "It's awesome to see it paying off with recognition within conference and nationally."

In Morningside's 3-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan, Dalach recorded 47 assists, which is second most at Morningside in the current scoring era. Dalach then added 39 assists against Valley City State and 44 assists against Buena Vista in Saturday's triangular. 

Dalach has totaled 890 assists this season. The Mustangs have three regular season matches remaining, going on the road to face Jamestown Wednesday and Briar Cliff Saturday. Senior Day and the regular season finale is against Dordt Tuesday, Oct. 31 inside the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center and Allee Gymnasium.
