Morningside falls to No. 6 Park

PARKVILLE, Mo. - The Mustangs battled No. 6 Park, falling to the Pirates in straight sets 25-18, 25-7, 25-21 Friday night.

The Mustangs were within two of the Pirates in the first set 20-18, but the Pirates finished strong to win the opening set. 

After the second set went the Pirates way, Morningside again battled Park to a tough finish. The Mustangs led by three early in the set, and had the Pirates tied at 21. Park again finished the set on a run, scoring the final four points to win the match. 

Claire Wilson led the Mustangs with nine kills. Sydney Marlow and Payten Lode tallied six kills each. Gillian DePauw picked up 19 assists and Payton Shoquist 12 digs. 

Morningside is back in action Saturday against McPherson and St. Ambrose. The first match is at 10 a.m., followed by the match against St. Ambrose at 2 p.m.
