Morningside women's volleyball players named scholar-athletes

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its Daktronics Scholar Athletes for women's volleyball today, with the honorees being announced ahead of play at the national championship final site at the Tyson Events Center.

Morningside had 10 athletes qualify for the scholar-athlete distinction this year. They are Carly vonRentzell, Cassie McDermott, Claire Wilson, Emerson Smith, Gillian DePauw, Hayden Stephenson, Lauryn Bonar, Nienke van Drunen, Ryley Rolls, and Sydney Marlow.

In order to qualify for the NAIA scholar athlete program, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5, appear on a sport's eligibility certificate, and have attended one full year at the current institution.
