SIOUX CITY, IOWA –  It was a matchup that, on paper, shouldn't have been much of anything as the no. 2 ranked Jamestown Jimmies stopped in Allee Gym to face Morningside, but the Mustangs made Jamestown work for its victory as they fell in straight sets, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-10.

The Mustangs were not just in the game, but held a lead throughout sets one and two of the match, countering the Jimmie offense and recovering quickly to erase advantages for the guests on the scoreboard. As luck would have it, though, Morningside would fall short in each of the first two sets.

Morningside's offense recorded 23 kills in the match, led by Sydney Marlow and Claire Wilson, with seven each.

The Mustang defense, which has seen additional success of late, recorded two total blocks, with Kylah Brewer recording a solo block and a block assist. Gillian DePauw recorded the other half of the second block.

Aureana Bernales headed up the forces in the back row, recording 14 digs. DePauw followed with eight and Marlow had seven.

Bernales also had two of the Mustangs' four service aces in the match. DePauw and Emerson Smith accounted for the remaining aces.

The Mustangs head to Briar Cliff and Dakota Wesleyan in the coming week, before concluding the regular season at home on Tuesday, Nov. 1, playing Dordt.
