Mustangs fall in straight sets to top 10 opponent

ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Morningside continued to chip away at its Great Plains Athletic Conference schedule today, with a match at no. 7 Northwestern College played this evening. The Mustangs played the Raiders closely in the opening set, but couldn't keep pace with the top ten team, falling 3-0 with sets of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-7.

Morningside's offense was held to 20 kills in the three-set match, led by Sydney Marlow with eight and Claire Wilson with seven. 

The Mustangs' defense was quieter than its last few games, recording just three blocks. Gaby Wilson recorded two block assists to lead the way, while Marlow had the lone solo block for Morningside.

Behind the block, Marlow led the way with 12 digs. Payton Shoquist followed with nine, and Aureana Bernales had eight. 

Morningside travels to Hastings College on Saturday, with JV playing at 3:30 and varsity following at 5 p.m.
