
First place finish for Mustang relay team headlines Red Raider Invite performances
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Morningside women's track and field team saw red this week, going to Northwestern to compete in the Red Raider Invite.
Jolee Mesz, Morgan Sachs, Nicole Zuehl, and Courtney Sporrer made up the relay team that placed first in the 4x800-meter relay, clocking a time of 9:29.12. Sporrer captured another first place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:27.73.
Mesz took fourth in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:00.63, followed by Sachs in sixth at 1:01.08. Meredith Draper placed eight in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.05.
In field events, Kinsey Alt placed third in the long jump with a distance of 5.05 meters.
Shelby Mills took fourth in the discus throw, sending it 40.71 meters. Mills also placed 11th in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.48 meters. Jacee Tindall placed fifth in the javelin throw with a distance of 36.22 meters and sixth in the shot put with 11.35 meters.
The Mustangs return to competition on April 22, at the Mount Marty Twilight in Yankton, S.D.
