Sporrers, Jenness represent top Mustang finishes at Red Raider Open

ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Courtney Sporrer and Taylor Sporrer managed to take the top two spots in the only running event that Morningside sent to a cold and windy Northwestern Red Raider Open, as the duo from Logan, Iowa, went 1-2 in the women's 5,000-meter run. 

Courtney Sporrer took the top spot in the 5K with a time of 18:39.05 with Taylor Sporrer right behind her at 19:02.21.

Jena Jenness represented Morningside's top-placing in a field event as she took fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 33.29 meters.

Shelby Mills was the Mustangs' top finisher in the discus, finishing sixth with a throw of 39.67 meters, and in the hammer throw, with a throw of 41.74 meters that was good for eighth.

Morningside will hope for more favorable weather as the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolf Outdoor Invite is next on the schedule, taking place in Lincoln, Neb. on April 25.
