
Mesz' title leads Mustangs to double digit top 10 finishes at USD

VERMILLION, S.D. – Jolee Mesz headlined Morningside's performances at this year's University of South Dakota Alumni Invitational, taking the top spot in the 800-meter run in USD's DakotaDome.
While Mesz' first place finish was the headliner, the Mustangs placed 10 athletes or relays in the top 10 on the day.
Mesz' winning time in the 800-meter event was 2:23.04, with Nicole Zuehl and Morgan Sachs crossing behind her in third and fourth place in 2:26.27 and 2:27.42.
Courtney Sporrer added a sixth place finish in the mile run to her season resume, completing the circuit in 5:19.42.
London Rogge led a pack of Morningsiders in the 3,000-meter run, finishing in 11:46.52 for seventh place. Gabby Ryan followed in 11:50.59 for eighth, and Lillian Dahlhauser took ninth in 11:58.92.
Kinsey Alt added a 10th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.91 meters, while Sarah Perez took 10th in the 400-meter run in 1:08.14.
In relays, Morningside's 4x400-meter squad of Mesz, Sachs, Sydney Brouwer, and Sporrer took fourth with a time of 4:13.62.
The Mustangs head to Storm Lake, Iowa next weekend to compete in Buena Vista's Dennis Young Classic.
