
Mid-distance Mustangs lead at Bulldog Early Bird
SEWARD, NEB. – Morningside's mid-distance squad four top-10 finishes at this weekend's Bulldog Early Bird Meet, with only one event, the 3,000-meter run, having a higher Mustang finish as Courtney Sporrer set a new meet record with London Rogge coming in in fourth.
The Mustangs had a strong presence in the 400-meter run, as Jolee Mesz came in fourth in 1:00.62 with Morgan Sachs crossing in 8th in 1:03.65.
Ikilas Hasan took second in the 600-meter run, leaning at the line for a time of 1:45.17, and Nicole Zuehl glided across the stripe in the 1,000-meter run in 3:21.71 for third place.
Sporrer's meet record-setting time was 10:24.75, running in a field that included eight bulldogs. Rogge finished in 11:38.27, seconds away from finishing behind her teammate.
Morningside will step off the track until January 11, training on the side until they compete at Mount Marty.
