
Runners shine at GPAC Championships
YANKTON, S.D. – The Mustangs racked up a handful of top 10 finishes and placed seventh as a team at the GPAC Championships in Yankton, South Dakota Saturday.
Morningside's best event was the 1,000-meters Saturday, as Courtney Sporrer and Emily Chicoine ran 3:03.54 and 3:06.51 for second and third in the event. Courtney Sporrer added a fourth place finish in the mile with a time of 5:08.74.
Taylor Sporrer put Morningside on the board in the 5,000-meters, placing third in a time of 18:35.81. London Rogge took 10th in the event at 19:57.79. Taylor Sporrer also took fourth in the 3,000 with a time of 10:26.82.
Morningside added a second place finish in the 800 as Michelle Sanchez ran 2:21.47. Jolee Mesz ran 1:40.17 for third in the 600 and teammate Sarah Perez took 10th in a time of 1:46.78.
Morningside's top runners now gear up for the NAIA Meet scheduled for Brookings, S.D. from Feb. 29 through March 2.
