
Women's tennis picks up win over Doane
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's women's tennis team crept closer to the Great Plains Athletic Conference season finish line with a 6-1 win over Doane today, with just over a week left in regular season play.
The Mustangs started the match strong with a sweep of doubles play at the Mason Family Tennis Complex, with Line Jensen and Delfina Stuzynska picking up a quick 6-0 win at no. 1 singles. Emily Clotfelter and Macy McDonald followed with a 6-2 victory at no. 3, and Jil Hellerforth and Annika Meisel finished the sweep with a 6-3 victory.
As the match moved to its second phase, no. 3 singles was the first to check in, where Stuzynska picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win. Hellerforth was next in the book with a 6-0, 6-1 win, and Meisel turned in a team victory-sealing 6-3, 6-4 win.
Emily Clotfelter added a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory at no. 5 singles, and Lidia Suarez checked in with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Morningside travels to Mount Marty on Thursday for a 4 p.m. match before concluding the regular season at home on Monday, April 22.
