
Stangs snuff Flames in GPAC women's tennis
OMAHA, NEB. – Morningside moved to 4-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference on the season as the Mustangs defeated the College of Saint Mary 7-0 in their third consecutive 7-0 victory.
Morningside was firing from the get go when they arrived in Omaha, as Emily Clotfelter and Macy McDonald were first to check in with a 6-1 win. Jil Hellerforth and Annika Meisel followed with a 6-2 victory, and Line Jensen and Delfina Stuzynska completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory.
Meisel was first in the book in singles play, winning the no. 4 match 6-0, 6-1. Stuzynska followed at no. 3 with a 6-2, 6-0 win, and Jensen was able to finish extinguishing the flames with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
As the Mustangs made sure that the fire was completely out, Clotfelter shut down her opponent in the no. 5 match, 6-0, 6-1. Lidia Suarez followed suit with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at no. 6 singles, and Jil Hellerforth snuffed the final coals with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory.
The Mustangs now prepare for Doane, who visits the Mason Family Tennis Complex on Sunday at 11 a.m.
