
Mustangs move to 3-0 in GPAC play with win at Hastings
HASTINGS, NEB. – Morningside remains dominant on the women's tennis circuit, collecting its third consecutive win in Great Plains Athletic Conference play and second consecutive 7-0 shutout as the Mustangs set aside Hastings.
Emily Clotfelter and Macy McDonald started Morningside on the right foot, collecting a 6-1 win in the no. 3 doubles match. Line Jensen and Delfina Stuzynska secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win, and Jil Hellerforth and Annika Meisel completed the doubles sweep with a matching 6-3 win.
Jensen was dealing as the teams moved to singles, winning the no. 1 match 6-0, 6-0. Stuzynska moved the needle closer to a Morningside win with a 6-3, 6-3 win, and Meisel slammed the door, winning 6-0, 6-0 to push the Mustangs over the 4-point threshold.
Hellerforth continued to sweeten the victory with a 6-3, 7-5 win. Clotfelter was lights-out as she won the no. 5 match 6-0, 6-0, and Lidia Suarez finished Hastings off 6-1, 6-0.
The Mustangs travel to College of Saint Mary on Monday at 3 p.m., looking to check out of Omaha with another GPAC win.
