
Women's Tennis blanks Northwestern in GPAC play
ORANGE CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs kept things rolling in their conference season as Morningside defeated Northwestern 7-0 in women's tennis. The Mustangs now sit 2-0 in the conference on the season with an 11-3 overall record.
Morningside started the day with a sweep of doubles, as Jil Hellerforth and Annika Meisel picked up the no. 2 doubles win, 6-1, Line Jensen and Delfina Stuzynska won no. 1 doubles 6-4, and Emily Clotfelter and Macy McDonald won the no. 3 doubles draw 7-5.
Morningside continued to roll as play moved to the singles game, with Jensen picking up a 6-2, 6-1 win. Meisel was next in the book, winning 6-2, 6-1 at the no. 4 spot, and Hellerforth recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win to lock in the Mustangs' victory.
Stuzynska added a 6-2, 6-1 win at no. 3 doubles, Clotfelter kept her opponent off the scoreboard with a 6-0, 6-0 win at no. 5, and Lidia Suarez completed the sweep 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
Morningside travels to Hastings on Saturday, playing the Broncos at 10 a.m. in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.
