Mustangs improve to 3-0 in the fall with doubleheader sweep

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Mustangs women's tennis team improved to 3-0 this fall with a 7-0 win over Grand View and a 6-1 win over Truman State Friday afternoon in Des Moines.

Against Grand View, it was a clean sweep in both singles and doubles. In singles play, Line Jensen won the top flight 6-3, 6-2. Jil Hellerforth won No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-1 and Delfina Stuzynska won No. 3 singles 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. Emily Clotfelter took No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-3 and Sophia Guntren won No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0. The No. 6 singles was a forfeit by Grand View.

In doubles, Jensen and Stuzynska won the No. 1 flight 6-3 and Annika Meisel and Macy McDonald won the No. 2 flight 6-2. The third flight was a forfeit by Grand View. 

Against Truman State, the Mustangs lost one doubles flight and one singles flight in a 6-1 win. In doubles, Hellerforth and Meisel won the top flight 6-4 and a default in the third gave the Mustangs a point. 

In singles action, Jensen (6-1, 6-1), Clotfelter (6-1, 6-1), Meisel (6-0, 6-0), and McDonald (6-1, 6-1) won their flights. The sixth flight was a forfeit and the second flight was won by Truman State.

The Mustangs face Iowa Central Sunday to conclude their fall schedule.
