Fall tennis season opens in Lincoln

LINCOLN, NEB. – The women's tennis team started this year's fall season with a strong showing at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Individual Invitational this weekend, winning three of the team's four singles brackets while sending several players to the semifinal rounds of their respective doubles brackets.

Line Jensen picked up the championship title in the A flight of singles, winning 8-5.

Annika Meisel worked through the B flight of singles, facing teammate Emma Dahlhoff in the quarterfinals, before winning the bracket 8-2.

In the D flight of singles, Taylor Cole worked through the bracket, winning the championship match 8-3.

Morningside had the duos of Faith TenHulzen and Mackailee Longobricco and Dahlhoff and Sophia Guntren move to the semifinals of the B flight of doubles. 

The Mustangs now prepare for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tournament in Salina, Kan. The tournament has been pushed back to start on Sunday, September 24, due to rain in the forecast.
