SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Throughout the first half, the Morningside University women's soccer team peppered the net, but the Mustangs couldn't get one past Dakota Wesleyan.
That changed quickly early in the second half.
Keyera Harmon scored in the 80th second of the final half that was the go-ahead goal in a 2-0 victory Wednesday night at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
Lisann Evert – who wound up having assists on both goals in the win – found Harmon open to give her the goal the Mustangs were seeking.
The Mustangs took 19 shots in the first half, and 18 in the second. Harmon took nine shots, while Evert had seven. Tuva Hammarlund took four chances.
Melissa Tsatiris scored the second goal in the 85th minute.
Monringside's defense held the Tigers to five shots, and just two in the final 45 minutes.
Kyla Syverson earned the win in net, playing all 90 minutes.
Morningside closes the regular season with a 7-5-4 record, and a 6-3-2 mark in GPAC play. It tied for fourth in the standings, and will hold the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament, which starts Saturday. The Mustangs will host Briar Cliff at 6 p.m. Saturday.
