Morningside falls to Dordt 3-2 in GPAC Quarterfinals

Mustangs net pair of goals, fall to Dordt in GPAC quarterfinals

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – The Mustangs had a tall task ahead of them as they visited fourth-seeded Dordt this evening in the quarterfinal round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference women's soccer postseason tournament. While Morningside was on the board first, it was the potent Defender offense that came away with the win, defeating the Mustangs 3-2.

Morningside got on the board almost immediately as Ida Carlsson buried the ball in the back of the net inside of the first three minutes of play, capitalizing on a pass from Roselynn Bosman.

Dordt answered almost as quickly, hitting the equalizer in the ninth minute, before going up 3-1 in the first 23 minutes of play.

The Mustangs changed personnel and found another scoring opportunity, as Keyera Harmon netted what would be the game's final goal in the 27th minute. Lisann Evert assisted on the play, setting up Harmon for the score.

Morningside, clad in its black jerseys, had its chances to equalize as the skies darkened, taking 19 shots including 10 on goal, while Dordt fired just nine total shots across 90 minutes of play.

The Mustangs bow out of the GPAC tournament with a 10-5-3 record and 7-3-2 conference record.
