Women's soccer drops home match against Defenders

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Defenders put two goals on the board early, and Morningside couldn't overcome the deficit in a 3-0 loss Saturday night at Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City.

The Defenders' first goal came in the fifth minute and the second goal was in the 17th, making the score 2-0 at the intermission. 

The Mustangs made a switch at keeper at the half, bringing in Isabel Ter Weeme, and the Defenders were held off the scoreboard until the 85th minute, where a third goal gave Dordt more cushion. 

The Mustangs were able to have opportunities throughout the match. As a team, Morningside had 19 shots, eight of which were on goal. Dordt finished with 11 shots, five on goal. Keyera Harmon had five shots, all on goal for the Mustangs. Roselynn Bosman and Melissa Tsatiris added three shots apiece.

In goal, Kyla Syverson had two saves in the first half.

Morningside is back in action against Briar Cliff Wednesday night at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
