Mustangs tie Warriors, 3-3

Mustangs answer Midland

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside spent most of the day playing catch up to Midland in women's soccer action. The Mustangs were able to neutralize each score the Warriors put on the board, with the scoreboard at Elwood Olsen Stadium reading 3-3 as the final horn sounded.

Keyera Harmon was the first Morningsider to hit an equalizer, taking a pass from Julie Raffel in the 36th minute to send the teams to the locker room at halftime with an even score.

Almost 15 minutes into the second half, it was Samantha O'Roy's turn to answer a Midland goal, taking the rebound off of a cross and dumping a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal.

Time was running out and the outcome was looking grim as the scoreboard clock displayed five minutes remaining with the Mustangs down 3-2. Morningside was determined, though, and kept working.

Fortune would smile with just over two minutes to play, as Ellie Gengler took the rebound off a cross, finding Roselynn Bosman, who neatly tucked a shot into the back corner of the goal, sending the net fluttering and tying the score at 3 all. Bosman's goal was on one of her game-high three shots on goal in the match.

Morningside started sophomore keeper Isabelle Ter Weeme for the matchup. She allowed three goals while recording four saves in her fourth start and sixth appearance of the season.

The Mustangs have a quiet week ahead, playing Mount Marty on Oct. 22 at 1 p.m.
