Women's soccer claims a 2-0 victory over Cardinal Stritch

Women's soccer jumps to a quick start

MILWAUKEE, WIS. – Morningside's women's soccer team got off to a quick start in the season's opening game at Cardinal Stritch University, scoring a pair of goals in the first half and allowing the Mustangs to cruise to a 2-0 win.

It was early in the first half of play that Morningside, off the foot of Keyera Harmon, picked up what would eventually be the game winning goal.

While Harmon's goal would have proved to be enough, LisAnn Evert added some insurance, netting the second, and final, goal of the match as the clock had just eclipsed the 20 minute mark.

The Mustangs would keep the Wolves keeper busy for the reminder of the match, totaling seven shots on goal before the afternoon was over.

Morningside's senior keeper, Megan Messersmith, was kept busy, with Cardinal Stritch recording seven shots on goal, all of which resulted in saves.

Morningside is back in action on Saturday, August 27, as it travels to Oskaloosa, Iowa, to face the Statesmen of William Penn University.
