Mustangs’ extra session clash comes up just short

SEWARD, NEB. – A 17-12 total shots edge coupled with a significant effort from senior goalkeeper Sarah Finn (Tampa, Fla.) Wednesday, Oct. 6, couldn't equal a Great Plains Athletic Conference win.

Sophomore midfielder Sina Feeser (Heilbronn, Germany) proved a menace to the host Concordia University defense over the 90 minutes at Bulldog Stadium. She registered multiple shot tries for the second time in her last three appearances, one of which found the back of the home net less than 12 minutes from the end of regulation. She was one of three Mustangs to hit two-or-more offensive attempts, with sophomore defender/forward Jil Hellerforth (Luedensheid, Germany) and freshman midfielder Nathalie Larsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) chipping in two attempts apiece.

However, even with those offensive outputs to go along with Finn's six saves to mark her sixth successive contest with two or more opposing turnaways, it wasn't enough to dull Concordia's attack. Finn allowed just one of seven on frame tries to get past her until CU struck for the winner in the 96th minute, closing out a 2-1 thriller.

Morningside (6-3-1 overall, 3-2-1 GPAC) returns home to its Elwood Olsen Stadium pitch Saturday, Oct. 9. Kickoff against Dordt University is 1 p.m.
