Mside closes out unbeaten week, blanks Dordt

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – It couldn't have been a more perfect span of matches for Morningside College from Wednesday, Oct. 7, through Saturday, Oct. 10.

Three days removed from toppling Concordia University at home in impressive fashion, head coach Tom Maxon's Mustangs used a little bit different of a formula with similar results for a 3-0 victory at Dordt University. After breaking loose from the Bulldogs with two second-half goals midweek, Mside got out of the gate fast at DU's Soccer Complex. A goal from senior midfielder Oceanna Brenden (SR/Rapid City, SD) (Rapid City, S.D.) in the seventh minute broke the ice, and a second strike less than 10 minutes later off the foot of freshman midfielder Sina Feeser (FR/Heilbronn, Germany) (Heilbronn, Germany) gave Maxon's team even surer footing.

Senior forward Jayci Miller (SR/Rapid City, SD) (Rapid City, S.D.) added a third and final missile that found the back of the Defenders' net in the second half for good measure. The output of the first half, though, turned out to be more than enough, as senior goalkeeper Alexandra Homan (SR/Omaha, Neb.) (Omaha, Neb.) ran her current scoreless streak to 297 minutes and 34 seconds with a third straight 2020 clean sheet, forging three saves against seven home team shots.

Morningside (2-0-1 overall, 2-0-1 Great Plains Athletic Conference) continues a busy span with a trip to Briar Cliff University's Faber Field Wednesday, Oct. 14. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
