Morningside wins home tournament by 13 shots

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – After having a five-stroke lead on Monday, the Morningside University women's golf team pulled away on Day 2 to win the Mustang Derby at Whispering Creek Golf Club.

The Mustangs beat Dakota Wesleyan by 13 strokes, turning in a team score of 622. On Tuesday, they turned in a team score of 313.

Alysen Sander turned in the Mustangs' 36-hole score of 153, good for fourth place. She was six-over par (78) on Tuesday. She had two birdies.

Aidan Sander finished right behind Alysen by two strokes. She also had a pair of birdies.

Cameron Spellman was ninth with a 158, and her 18-hole score on Monday was a 74. Ainsley Hergert was 12th (159), while Lucy Brown tied for 13th with a 162.

Kendra Casey finished tied for 15th with a two-day score of 163, while Ella Welsh was 17th and a stroke back of Casey.

Rachel Parks and Kaylee Hanson rounded out the scoring for Morningside, as Parks was 26th (170), and Hanson was 43rd (209).
