Castelan, Wanderscheid highlight GPAC women's golf honors

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Sofia Castelan's third straight GPAC Player of the Year and fourth first team all-conference honor highlights six members of the Morningside women's golf program who received honors from the conference Wednesday.

Castelan (Sr., Queretaro, Mexico) shot 12-over at the GPAC Championship to win the event for the third time. She won four events this season. Joining Castelan on the first team is Lucy Brown (Fr., Southport, United Kingdom) and Alysen Sander (Fr., Lincoln, Neb.). Brown placed third at the GPAC Championship at 24-over and Sander took 14th at 37-over.

Aidan Sander (Fr., Lincoln, Neb.) was named to the second team all-conference. She placed in a tie for 16th at the championships at 39-over. Ainsley Hergert (Fr., Rockwall, Texas) received honorable mention for her play this season.

Nick Wanderscheid was named GPAC co-Coach of the Year. He guided the Mustangs to a conference championship by 30 strokes. 

The Mustangs are back in action at the NAIA Championships at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. running from May 14-17.
