Castelan wins first event of the year

YANKTON, S.D. – Senior Sofia Castelan gets her 2023-24 golf season started right, claiming the Mount Marty Fall Invite title with a two-day 7-over score of 151.

A par on the 18th while Bellevue's Maria Pinedo bogeyed was the difference, as Castelan sealed a one-stroke win.

The second best Mustang for the invite was Alysen Sander, who placed eighth at 19-over. The Mustangs placed second in the team standings behind Bellevue, and were 21 shots clear of third place.

Aidan Sander took home 12th with a 22-over par tournament. Fourth on the Mustangs was Lucy brown at 27-over, good for 23rd place.

The Mustangs are back on the course Wednesday, Sept. 6 in Orange City for the Siouxland Invite.
