Bio

Gonshorowski, who helped the Mustangs start up their varsity program during the 2013-14 academic year, is a former longtime teacher and coach in the South Sioux City, Neb., school system.

He helped start up South Sioux City’s club bowling program in 2012 and was instrumental in helping the Greater Siouxland United States Bowling Congress (USBC) host the 2013 State Open tournament. Gonshorowski's resume also includes being the manager of the Greater Siouxland USBC and director of the Iowa State USBC board.

He helped the Mustang men's team achieve a program first during the 2015-16 season when they became the college's first team to qualify for the Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC) Sectional tournament. Gonshorowski guided the Mustang men to a return appearance in the ITC Sectional tournament in the 2016-17 campaign.

Gonshorowski’s bowling experience includes participation in numerous state and national tournaments. He won the 2006 Nebraska state singles title in Grand Island and won back-to-back Sioux City doubles titles in 2010 and 2011. Gonshorowski has bowled three sanctioned 800 series and nine sanctioned 300 games.

He served as a coach at South Sioux City from 1977 to 2012 in the sports of football, wrestling, and boy’s and girl’s golf, including stints as the Cardinal’s head coach in wrestling and girl’s golf. Gonshorowski coached four individual state champions and led the Cardinals to a runner-up finish at the 1983 Class A state tournament and to a district championship in 1981 during his time as head wrestling coach. His 2004 girl’s golf team won a district championship and placed sixth at the Class B state tournament.

Gonshorowski holds an associate of arts degree from Northland Community College and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Mankato State University.
