SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's women's basketball team was hoping to catch a little break after a pair of overtime losses last week as they welcomed the Waldorf Warriors to Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center in their first appearance as members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Warriors were just what the Mustangs needed, as Morningside put together three strong quarters to close out the contest 66-54.
The Mustangs were looking comfortable late in the third quarter, sitting atop a 20-point lead with 2:55 to play in the period, as Lily Vollertsen racked up 18 points in the contest to lead all scorers. Alexis Spier and Dani Peterson both followed for Morningside with 10 points apiece and Clancy Brown had eight.
