SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's women's basketball team's hopes of a regular season sweep over Jamestown slipped away as the Jimmies put together a strong second half to claim an 80-74 win.

The Mustangs' largest lead of the night came with 3:52 to play in the third quarter as a Lily Vollertsen three-pointer opened up a 58-44 lead. Vollertsen was the leading scorer for the home team, going 5-of-8 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. The sophomore was also 6-for-6 at the charity stripe to reach her game-high 20 points.

Vollertsen was joined in double figures by Alexis Spier, who picked up 17 points on the day.

The Mustangs' success early in the contest was supported by 15 turnovers by the Jimmies and 22 points off of turnovers. Olivia Larsen forced five of those turnovers, collecting as many steals, while keeping Jamestown's offense on its toes. Spier was second in the column, collecting three steals of her own.

Morningside will hope to bounce back in Saturday's contest, taking on the College of Saint Mary Flames at 2 p.m. in Allee Gym on Saturday.
