HASTINGS, Neb. – A 19-3 run to open the game for Hastings was too much for the Mustangs to overcome, as Morningside fell to the Broncos 76-51 Saturday afternoon in Hastings, Nebraska.
The Mustangs fell behind early, scoring seven points in the first 10 minutes to trail 19-7. The Broncos continued to pour on the points, scoring 23 in the second quarter to lead 42-21 at the half.
Morningside struggled shooting the ball, converting 20-of-62 shots and 3-of-20 three-pointers. One Mustang who shined Saturday was Lily Vollertsen off the bench. She played a team high 23 minutes, scoring 18 points and grabbing four rebounds. Jaeden Webb and Alexis Spier scored five points each.
The Mustangs hit the road again Wednesday, headed up to Mitchell, South Dakota to take on Dakota Wesleyan at 6 p.m.
