YANKTON, S.D. – Jamie Sale used all his options, clearing the bench in the Mustangs' 84-59 women's basketball win over Mount Marty, as a strong second quarter gave Morningside the separation it needed to turn the final four minutes of play over to the end of the bench.
Morningside's scoring was led by Sophia Peppers, who had 18 points. McKenna Sims and Lily Vollertsen followed with 12 apiece, Alexis Spier and Chaise Pfanstiel each had six, and Olivia Larsen and Megan Callahan each had five. Callahan's five points represents a new career high for the freshman.
Vollertsen had a team-leading eight rebounds, followed by Peppers and Pfanstiel with five. Spier and Larsen each had two.
The Mustangs are back in action on Wednesday, as Northwestern College comes to Allee Gymnasium for a 6 p.m. contest.
