Morningside women drop contest to Concordia

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside had a tall task ahead of it tonight, as a Concordia University women's basketball team that has historically played the Mustangs close, despite their records, stepped onto the floor in Allee Gym. The Bulldogs used a strong second quarter to build a lead that Morningside couldn't overcome on their way to a 71-64 victory.

The Mustangs' shooting dipped in today's contest, as the home team went 26-60 from the floor for 43.3 percent, connecting on 7-of-25 shots from behind the three-point line.

Morningside was led in scoring by Chloe Lofstrom, the reigning Great Plains Athletic Conference player of the week, with 14 points. Sophia Peppers followed with 10 points and Alexis Spier, Olivia Larsen, and Lily Vollertsen each had eight, with Larsen and Vollertsen coming off the bench.

Spier had a team-high four steals, followed by Larsen, with two. Aspen Jansa, Peppers, and Lofstrom each had one takeaway.

Lofstrom had a team-high six rebounds, followed by peppers and McKenna Sims, with five each. Vollertsen, Jansa, and Abbe Morten each had three.

The Mustangs are back on the hardwood on Saturday, Dec. 3, playing Mount Marty University's Lancers at 2 p.m.
